What does it take to build a Bishard Home? While we love to share our finished products with you, we also want to let you in on the answer to this question so you can see how the building process is crafted for each home. We pay special care and attention to the details in every step so we can ensure that we are providing the utmost quality for you and your family.

Here is an inside look at the process for building a house which is overseen by Bob Deacon, VP of Operations here at Bishard Homes:

1. From the Ground Up:Foundations matter. 
   A simple point, but this initial step is extremely important in home building, as it allows the construction site to be properly prepared for the home it will support. Once the foundation of the home is poured, the next steps of construction can take place, but we at Bishard Homes know it is important to get the very first step right so we can set a precedent of excellence for the rest of the process.
2. Strong Bones for a Healthy Home
   The framing of the home is completed in this step, where the skeleton of the house becomes visible in the floors, walls, and roof that constitute the structural elements. This is where home design starts to come to life, and where your blueprints become a reality.
3. The Veins of the Place
   Once the anatomy of the house is accounted for, its functional systems are implemented. These include the electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems which bring the house functionality. This part is crucial in our eyes because we want our homes to be crafted to not only look beautiful, but to also perform beautifully.
   
4. Comfort is Key
   This step consists of insulation installation for temperature regulation. Or, in less poetic words, the insulation of the house is incorporated in order to provide a more stable temperature in the home. Our builders know first-hand that a Hampton Roads summer is hot, which is why quality insulation is so important to making your home feel comfortable in any weather.
5. Your Walls are Up
   The drywall is completed in this stage, which rounds out the substance of the walls of your home. The exterior finishes of the home from brick to siding are also added which give the home some of its personality and our Coastal Southern style.
6. Paving the Way
   Interior trim is added to give the inside of the house sophistication. All decorative trim from window sills to moldings to the doors themselves are added which make the home start to truly come together. Outside driveways are also added to connect your future home to the community.
7. Smoothing Things Over 
   Hard-surface flooring such as wood and tile are placed, along with countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms. We know how much of an impact these details can make on the look of your home, which is why we offer a beautiful selection of both flooring and countertop options to make your home absolutely glow.
8. It’s Electric
   A flicker of excitement emerges as the mechanical trims are finished so that everything from light fixtures to outlets can be a bright addition to the home. Bathroom fixtures such as sinks and faucets are incorporated as well. This step is truly a game changer, because once you see a Bishard bathroom, you’ll never want anything different. Elegant, light, and sleek, these rooms are also specially crafted with beautiful features that look and function wonderfully.
   
   
9. Taking Time to Reflect
   While this step is incredibly decorative, it is also truly rewarding to see such an important piece of craftsmanship come together. Interior and exterior features alike are added to polish the house, from mirrors and carpeting to landscaping.
10. Making a House a Home
    Once the house is finished, a walkthrough with the project manager occurs to ensure the house meets and exceeds your expectations. After all, a house isn’t a home without a family inside it.

1. During your initial consultation, we will have a realtor work closely with you to creatively, yet practically incorporate your wants and needs in available options for the home.
2. Bishard Homes will provide a semi-custom home of your liking according with architectural options and color selections to our array of over 100 models.
3. Once the contract is signed, we will begin the construction of your new home.
4. During the construction process, our realtors will keep you up to date on the progress. Meetings with project managers can be scheduled when necessary.
5. The Building Process occurs, keeping you informed and in mind every step of the way.
6. We will provide you with a manual of your home including a list of all vendors and a yearlong builder’s warranty.
7. Before the warranty expires, we will have a walkthrough one year after living in the home to ensure your satisfaction of the house.
